Norway : NSB
The Norwegian State Railways’ network (Norway’s NSB) covers over 3,000km, stretching from the Southwest coast up north to Bodø on the coast of Nordland county.
Travel in Scandinavia is easy. Stockholm (Sweden) in just 6 hours from Oslo, with two daily services and a summertime night train. Other destinations include Gothenburg (Sweden) and Copenhagen (Denmark). A Eurail Scandinavia Rail Pass provides unlimited rail travel in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
Norway’s NSB network also operates the high-speed Airport Express Train (Flytoget) from Oslo Airport to Oslo Central while scenic routes include the 290-mile Bergensbanen route along the west coast, chugging past rivers, mountains and windswept, treeless plateau.
Fjord Tours combine Norway’s NSB trains with bus and boat travel. Eurail Pass holders get a 30% discount on the privately-run Flåm Railway, travelling from Myrdal’s mountain station, through Flåm’s steep valley via Europe’s longest, deepest fjord, the Sognefjorden.
Eurail passes are also valid on Norway’s NSB-operated Rauma line, from Dombås (between Oslo and Trondheim) to Åndalsnes via 180-degree winding tunnels and Trollveggen, Europe’s tallest rock-face.
We recommend seat reservations on long-distance trains. Komfort (1st class) is free for 1st class Pass holders. On-board facilities vary from Family zones to mobile-free quiet carriages.
