Intercity and Eurocity trains connect all major cities in Germany.
Intercity (IC) trains and Eurocity (EC) are trains which travel faster than regional trains in Germany. The IC and EC trains travel at a maximum speed of up to 200km/h and as such are categorized just after the Intercity Express (ICE), which are high speed trains. Intercity (IC) trains operate solely in within Germany while Eurocity (EC) trains continue their services to neighbouring countries. Both trains are operated by Deutsche Bahn (DB), the German national railway company. IC and EC have frequent services on core routes.

- A. Generally, dogs are permitted on trains. Sometimes they may need to be contained in a pet carrier, or they may have to wear a muzzle or leash. Dogs normally travel at half the fare of a 2nd class ticket; this charge is payable directly to the conductor. Pets are not allowed on trains in Great Britain, Spain, Ireland, Norway, and Finland. Currently the only animals that will be permitted to travel on the Eurostar are guide dogs for the visually impaired.
- A. In most cases, railpasses are not accepted on city transportation systems such as buses and subways. Passes will generally cover local commuter trains that are above ground. The exception to this is the Swiss Pass, which is valid for transportation in 37 Swiss cities.
- A. Italo offers different classes of service. Rail Europe offers 3 classes of service for Italo: the Smart class, the Club class and the Prima class. The Smart class is the equivalent of second class, where passengers have the following services: 2 dedicated stewards/hostesses and comfortable seats. The Prima class is the equivalent of first class, where passengers have the following services: A dedicated steward/hostess, welcome drink and snacks, daily newspapers, complimentary expresso and large reclining seats. A supplement is needed for catering service in Prima class. The Club class has the same services as the Prima class plus video screens and access to business lounge.
Q. What are the differences between Full Fare, Leisure Fare, Youth Fare, Passholder Fare and Senior Fare on Eurostar?A. Full Fare is an unrestricted ticket. It is fully exchangeable and refundable even after the departure date. For exchanges and refunds, your local Raileurope office must receive the ticket no later than 60 days after the train's departure date. Click here to get the Contact Us adress. Value fare is non-exchangeable and non-refundable. Youth Fare (for travelers under 26 years of age) is exchangeable once in Europe before departure date. It is non-refundable. Passholder Fare (issued in conjunction with appropriate railpass) is exchangeable once in Europe. It is non-refundable. Senior Fare (for travelers 60 years of age and over) is exchangeable once in Europe. It is non-refundable.
- A. Also known as the red train, Thalys trains link Paris to the gems of Northern Europe: Brussels in 1 hour and 22 minutes, Amsterdam in 3 hours and 18 minutes, and Cologne in 3 hours and 14 minutes. On a seasonal basis (from the end of December till mid - April), Thalys Snow travels from Brussels Midi to the ski resorts in Chambéry, Albertville, Moutiers, Aime-la-Plagne, Landry and Bourg-St-Maurice, every Saturday without any stops.
- A. There is no check in or customs procedures for Italo trains. However ticket control or ID checks can occur randomly on board. Make sure to have your travel documents with you at all times.
- A. Bookings for a Frecciarossa trains can be made up to 4 months before you depart.
- A. You can print your Lyria ticket directly from your printer at home or, alternatively, you can retrieve it from the self-service machines available at the train stations in France only before boarding your Lyria train.
- A. There is no Senior fare available for Italo trains. However children aged from 4 to 14 have a 25% discount on the full adult fare. As for children under 3 years old, they can travel for free if they do not require any seat.
- A. Discounted Senior rates for travelers 60 and older are available on the following passes: Balkan Flexipass-1st class BritRail Consecutive and Flexipass 1st class, BritRail England Consecutive and Flexipass 1st Class France Rail Pass, 1st Class Eurail Ireland Pass - 2nd Class Eurail Romania Pass - 1st class

It was a fantastic ride from Frankfurt to Koblenz and from Koblenz to Luxembourg. It was very convenient and in time. The outside view was an enjoyment for our eyes. My wife was with me and she enjoyed a lot. Thanks to Rail Europe. The only draw bag is the ticket booking. We booked our ticket through internet, but we have to collect the ticket from another place. It should be like airline tickets which is issued immediately. Value for money Convenience

I recently traveled from Berlin to Prague using the DB system and purchasing the ticket in advance vía Rail Europe. I got a really good rate and could print my ticket without any problem at all. The service was nice, the train departed and arrived on time. I would do do it again. Value for money Convenience

I will rather pay more and fly than take this ride again. There is no scenery and I was counting the minutes of the around 6-hour ride. There was also no dining cart attached to the train, so we could not even go and sit and have a meal to make the time go past. We had 2nd class tickets as that is all that was available, but that was no problem. Reserved seats and comfortable enough seats. Just boring ride and we LOVE train ride. We will only do trains in the future when it is a scenic route. Value for money Convenience

Overall it's good. However, we had problems with connection between local trains and ICE sometimes. We once had a 20 min delay and the coach number shown on the ticket is missing in the real train—it's coac Value for money Convenience

The trains were good, the service could be better. We also got unlock to have a faulty ticket received from India, where the booking looked correct but the ticket had wrong codes (how am I expect to understand the company's codes), to complicate the situation the crew couldn't speak in English and it took a while for them to understand that we were not traveling for free neither in a wrong train but instead it was a mistake of RailEurope's office while printing our tickets. Everything turned out fine in the end but we had a bit to much stress for what was suppose to be an enjoyable vacation time. Value for money Convenience

The train car was a bit old and seats were dirty. However, after we crossed the border to Czech Republic we were served free drinks and newspapers. This was very convenient. Since the railway runs parallel to the river Vltava, the section between Dresden and Prague was very scenic. Value for money Convenience
