Reviews & ratings Paris - Dijon
the journey was very smooth and comfortable. With the ticket bought online was the best thing i did and will not hesitate to do again well in advance of my journey.
Why would anyone take this trip any other way than by TGV. Comfortable, quick (non-stop service) and for travellers from New Zealand just so convenient, as you avoid busy traffic associated with any sort of road transport.
This train was stopped at a station before it reached St Malo due to a problem with the track ahead. We were kept sitting in the train for some time - at least half an hour - before suddenly everyone started getting off. We do not speak French and struggled to understand what was going on. We collected our luggage and followed other passengers to the Bus Station where we again waited some time - at least 20 minutes - before buses came to transport us the rest of the journey to St Malo. We had to ask staff to explain what was happening in English as there was little consideration for passengers who did not speak French. Water was handed to passengers as they embarked on the buses. We were especially disappointed as we only had a little more than 24 hours to spend in St Malo and lost at least 1 1/2 hours of that time because of the additional travel time caused by the delay. We were handed forms to fill in to receive compensation for the inconvenience caused but have yet to establish if we will have part of the cost of the fare reimbursed. We appreciated the fact this was offered.
My husband and I love to travel by train when we Europe. It is relaxing, easy and a great way to move around. Our only complaint is regarding luggage. It is really difficult to man handle larger, heavier pieces of luggage onto the train. We find this stressful, and a good way to potentially get injured. It would be so helpful if there was a little help with this. We actually travel fairly light, but we often do cycling tours when we're in Europe, which requires us to bring extra bags. I'm sure we're not the only ones who find loading and unloading the luggage difficult. Otherwise we LOVE travelling with Rail Europe. Thank you.
The trip was excellent !!
The TGV was slightly delayed arriving in Lyon. We had two connections further to that which we missed. Arriving in Bourg en Bresse too late for a train to our final destination that evening. The station master and his team were wonderfully helpful and organised us a taxi, at no charge to ourselves to take us to our final destination 60km away. First class service with a smile. 5*'s to the French railways network. We would like to to send them an email if you can supply us with details.
Soon and comfortable.
The trip on the TGV was very efficient , left on time arrived on time. As first time travellers if was a surprise to,have to sort our luggage but other passengers were really helpful, next time I will understand why friends suggested smaller than airline size cases. Would definitely use it again. Thank you TGV
Very good experience. Paris - Gare de Lyon was well organised. Announcements a bit soft but the boards are easy to interpret. Timing was punctual both ways. At first it seems there is little room for luggage but the overhead racks and the racks within the carriage Staff all friendly Great way to travel in France
Fast and comfortable trip, though would have preferred to be facing forward!
I loved it how we could print out tickets out straight away, saving us the hassle of going to the train station earlier with all our luggage (to find the customer service booth, wait in line for our turn, wait again while they searched for our tickets, etc.). Everything was as it should have been. Couldn't be happier.
First the good marks for TGV: - On time departure
TGV had comfortable seats in the cabin, and there were enough space for our big suitcases. One suggestion, I think the travellers would like to know where their seats were situated (at the upper floor or the bottom floor). I can’t imagine how could we move the 3 big suitcase to the upper floor if we assigned the seats there.
Trip was fine, train departed on time, it was smooth, fast, good ride !! Two issues to think about: 1. The restaurant cart was out of performance. Closed. Empty. 2. It is forbidden to talk with cell phone in the cart, only between carts. This can be inconvenient. Many thanks,
Very quick relaxing journey. Better identification of car numbers from the platform would have been helpful
