Pau, hometown of the french king Henry the IV
At the feet of the northern side of the Pyrenees, Pau is the main town of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department. Situated on the Gave de Pau river, the city is at the entrance of a path that goes through amazing ranges of mountains.
Birthplace of Henri the IV, king of France and Charles Bernadotte, king of Sweden and Norway, Pau is firmly linked with History.
Hence, it is possible to enjoy the castle, dominating the river, dating back to the 12th century, and transformed until the late 19th century by Napoléon III. From the castle, you follow the Boulevard des Pyrénées, along almost 2 kilometres, and discover the charming old town. There is always a breathtaking view on the Pyrenees when in Pau, and of course many facilities to enjoy a very lively nature.
Hiking, fishing, and kayaking are typical activities one can enjoy at this crossroad between Heaven and Earth.

The journey was my first experience in travellig by high speed trains. Departure and arrival times were exactly the same as shown in e-ticket. Seats were comfortable.

We enjoyed the experience.
- "Trip Paris Toulouse" Richard p. 04/08/2014
Well the major problem with the TGV and French transportation is they don't accept credit card from America. It is hard to believe this. Also people in France don't work early in the morning so it is difficult to find help. Other than that the trip was fine and ontime

It was a wonderful experience. I booked rail tickets on line in Singapore, had it printed and when in Paris, just sat back and enjoyed the rail journey. The only small glitch, if I may call it one, was that the coach number on the ticket from Paris to Bayonne ( 1st sector ) got over printed and unable to make it out. Even the Inspector scanning the ticket could not decipher the number but he kindly told me to board first and he will sort it out once train bound, and which he did promptly. Even the passengers, who were total strangers, stepped up to offer assistance. Our rail journey took us from Paris to Lourdes, with stopovers in Bayonne and Pau on the return trip. Apart from the slight glitch, the rest of the journey was a breeze. Very highly recommended.
