Orleans, learn Joan of Arc history along the Loire river
When in central France, it is hard not to be stunned by the beauty and class of Orléans across the river Loire. This city is deeply linked to the river. Indeed, Orléans used to be very rich during the Middle Ages, thanks to its bridges.
No wonder that when defending Paris against the English troops, during the Hundred Years’ War, the famous Joan of Arc had to fight in Orléans.
Some other historical celebrities like John Calvin and later Molière also used to learn at the university of Orléans. Do not miss the visit of the Sainte-Croix cathedral, as well as the nice amount of museums. Among them, you will find the Joan of Arc museum of course. But Orléans is also pleasant for its many parks as well as its fine gastronomy.
Please yourself with fine wine, mustard and cotignac ( a subtle quinces jelly known since the Middle Ages).
Trains are a convenient way of reaching many towns and cities throughout Europe. The majority of cities in Europe have a minimum of one train station, while larger, more populated cities have two or more stations. Train stations, in general, are located in the heart of the city. - "Paris to Orleans via train" William K c. 03/10/2015
This was our first trip on the French Intercites train. Everything was announced only in French and since we do not speak French, was a little disconcerting. However, trains were clearly marked and we navigated the trip without incident. The first class seats were comfortable.

We recently booked a trip from Orleans to Paris Austerlitz online and were immediately impressed when our tickets arrived at our house in Kuala Lumpur with no problems, 3 months ahead of our journey!. We booked first class seats to end our European travels and were pleased that we did. The journey itself was really easy from start to finish - everything was well signposted at Orleans and also at Gare d'Austerlitz. The train was really comfortable and clean but our kids complained that the wifi was a bit slow! - we will definitely use RailEurope again.

Good value for money, would definitely consider using it again! Excellent seats, no hassle, and on time! Excellent overall!

The train travelled non-stop from Les Aubrais Orleans to Paris. Air conditioning was in good working condition, train was clean and everything ran smoothly. Best way to travel....less than an hour, no stress in traffic. Booking via Rail Europe is an absolute breeze! I've booked trains this way about 10 times now...never a glitch...will surely do so again in future...the system works well. Happy travels!
