In Bologna , let yourself be surprised

Student city Bologna’s past lives on in its towers , churches and palaces and the interlocking piazzas and colonnades of blood-red brick: the colour of Bologna’s greatest gift to students everywhere – spaghetti Bolognese.

Bologna has one of the largest historical centre in Europe. Here, you will admire the main square dating back from the 15th century: the Piazza Maggiore, and its numerous medieval edifices.

Among them you should visit the Town Hall in the Palazzo d’Accursio, the beautiful Palazzo del Podesta and the gothic Basilica of San Petronio. Nearby is the Piazza del Nettuno where you’ll be astonished by the Fountain of Neptune.

To appreciate a large view on the city, climb up to the top of one of the high nobiliary Torre Pendenti. Enjoy strolling under the world-famous Bologna’s Porticoes and let yourself be seduced by the gastronomy: its unrivalled mortadella, its delicious pastas, cheeses and wines.

    To continue with my review of Munich to Bologna train, this is the 2nd part of the travel from Bologna to Florence. It's not my first time on Frecciarossa/Trenitalia, so I call this a typical Italian train ride. Seats are a bit narrower and more packed than the DB train. Nothing bad, just a comparison with DB train.  
  • "Winter wonderland"    
    Was traveling with my brother from Munich to Rome. We picked the day train instead of overnight train in hopes of enjoying wonderful scenery. The route was broke into 2 parts, 1st from Munich to Bologna on DB (German's train) and onward to Florence on Frecciarossa (Italy's train). Scenery didn't let us down, the snowy picturesque hill view in Austria (just passing by, not a stop) was stunning and breath-taking. The ticket price  
  • "Purchase a seat"    
    Travelling by train in Italy is really comfortable. I can advice to purchase a seat, as trains during the week, especially in the evenings are quite crowded.  
  • "Tight fit"    
    Not much legroom in the 2nd class. Otherwise it was fine.  
  • "First Class"    
    First Class seating is very comfy, and there is free espresso and snack, newspaper. Satisfied! If free WIFI is available that's better  
  • "Nice Journey"    
    We are comfortable with the bullet train which speed up to 200km/hour. It is clean and comfortable journey.  
  • "Ok ride, bad porters"    
    My train arrived late from Rome so I had less than five minutes to get on Bologna-Munich train. I was 'helped' by porters at the Bologna train station with my heavy luggage, but when they wanted more money I refused and I was harassed. I think the police should control these "porters" as they were threatening and awful.  
  • "Very comfortable ride"    
    I had the whole compartment to myself so it was a very comfortable train ride. The food selection and quality are good. However the train was late arriving in Bologna and I almost missed by connecting train to Munich.

    fast, clean simple.... though the bologna train station has 2 platform numbers 1-6 which is confusing.  
  • "Freciarossa is excellent"    
    Freciarossa is excellent for punctual, clean, fast and easy to find.

    Travelled from Milano to Bologna. Perfect!

    From booking to the actual trip, it was so easy and convenient. The train was on time and arrived as per the schedule. The train was clean, comfortable and they also serve drinks and snacks - free of charge. Its definitely the best way to travel.
